When learning to identify Turkey Tail mushrooms, you'll find that guidebooks can't tell you their color. Color is one of the first characteristics we look at when studying a new species and it's interesting to note that this one resists that method of classification. They can take on any hue of the rainbow, doubly complicated by their multicolored banding introducing tints and shades of each color.
