Death Meditation Card Set

Set of nine 4" x 4" contemplation cards on linen paper.

This set of cards is based on the Nine Contemplations on Death from the Buddhist teacher, Atisha. Pairing these contemplations with the wisdom of poisonous plants is a natural fit - who better to learn about death with than plants that can easily induce it? It's only been in the last 100 years or so that we've been taught to fear, avoid, and exterminate these plants. And it's a similar story for how we handle death. As we push these subjects to the margins and decide they are taboo, we are doing ourselves a disservice. Death is inevitable and it's time to repair our relationship with it.

Each card has a poison plant on the front and a written explanation expanding the contemplation on the back.
