Summer in Appalachia is marked by an abundance of wild blackberries taking over the edges of the dirt roads that wind up the mountains. To my family, the taste has become a hallmark of the season. But the flowers are equally special, with paper-thin petals stretching out as far as they can to invite in all beings.
